One of the greatest ironies is that the victims of the Orlando shooting need blood, but members of the LGBTQ community are barred from being able to donate. If you can, please donate blood. This link will help you find a blood donation center near you.
Please consider donating on behalf of a member of the LGBTQ community who is barred from donating themselves due to an outdated and discriminatory policy that refuses blood donations from certain members of the LGBTQ community. Please choose a name from the list below, and post on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) a photo of you donating with the name you choose and the hashtag #bloodonyourbehalf. Some people may also choose to say “I am donating for and in behalf of [name], who is [LGBTQIA+ designation]. Names can be used over and over in case there aren’t enough.
As people start to post images, we will create a feed of them.
The LGBTQ community needs a lot more than our prayers. They need us to DO SOMETHING. This is one thing.
